| The chance to travel to Moscow to see theatre, to meet other theatre people from around the world, to experience the city and to see it reflected and refracted in the works onstage, and above all to reflect on my own work, my own creative process, was a godsend. I thank the New York Theatre Workshop, the Trust for Mutual Understanding, and especially Philip Arnoult and the Center for International Theatre Development, and our hosts in Moscow for making this possible. Travel and exchange is crucial for the individual artist, and crucial for the vitality of the American theatre. |
